He Has Risen, Alleluia! We Have Risen With Him, Alleluia! Part 3

April 15th, 2008 by Maurice Blumberg

He Has Risen, Alleluia! We Have Risen With Him, Alleluia! Part 2

April 8th, 2008 by Maurice Blumberg

Even though we celebrate Easter once a year, it is not intended to be a once a year event in our lives. We should continue to reflect on Jesus' resurrection, and experience our own risen life in Christ on an ongoing basis. Just think, because of what Jesus Christ accomplished through his passion, death, and resurrection, our Heavenly Father has "delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins" (Colossians 1:13-14).

He Has Risen, Alleluia! The first part of the title for this article: "He Has Risen" comes from Matthew 28:6, when the angel said to the women at the empty tomb the following words:

He Has Risen, Alleluia! We Have Risen With Him, Alleluia!

April 2nd, 2008 by Maurice Blumberg

Easter Season is a time to reflect on the extraordinary and undeserved gift we have received through Jesus' passion, death, and resurrection our sins have been forgiven and we are now sharers of eternal life with Christ. The second reading from this year's Easter Sunday Mass says that we too have been raised to life with Christ. Take some time during this grace-filled season to reflect on these marvelous truths.. Below are some Scriptures to help you do this.

He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said (Matthew 28:6).

And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age (Matthew 28:20).

Ongoing Conversion: An Ever-Deepening Work of the Spirit

March 25th, 2008 by Maurice Blumberg

Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12)

A thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy; I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly. (John 10:10)

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf of bread, or a snake when he asks for a fish? If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him. (Matthew 7:7-11)

Evangelizing By Our Life and Our Words

March 11th, 2008 by Maurice Blumberg

Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman's testimony  . . . They said to the woman, "We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.  (John 4:39,42)

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach? (Romans 10:13-14).

Isn't it amazing that the words of the Samaritan woman, who had an encounter with Jesus, could cause so many to believe in him? Samaritan women were considered to be ritually unclean by the Jewish people of that time. Yet this woman, who no doubt had little respect, power, or prestige, was able to transform this entire town by just honestly sharing the impact Jesus had on her life. Jesus offered her "living water" and she was offering this same living water to them.

Catholic Men’s National Day of Prayer

March 4th, 2008 by Maurice Blumberg

Dear Brothers in Christ,

I wanted to follow-up on my previous Catholic Man Channel article describing the first Catholic Men's National Day of Prayer. Below is a more detailed announcement of this very important event.

The National Fellowship of Catholic Men (NFCM) has sent a letter to all bishops in the United States asking them to invite Catholic men in their dioceses to participate in the NFCM's National Day of Prayer on the Solemnity of Saint Joseph, March 15, 2008.

"We are issuing a call for all men to participate in this national day of prayer," wrote Kevin Lynch, who is the president of the National Fellowship of Catholic Men. "We are holding St. Joseph up as a model for all men with respect to their manhood, fatherhood, discipleship, work and roles within their families."
